To accompany AmigaOS 3.2 Reference Manual, which you can buy in our shop, you will find supporting information here for easy use: updates and corrections, example scripts and all web links. This saves you time and avoids typos.
Supplements (Downloads)
Save yourself the hassle of typing out long scripts by downloading our code examples below. You will need a tool such as LhA (Amiga) or WinRAR (Windows) to unzip the archives. You can find links to these tools on this page in the software section.
The archive Shell-Examples_AOS32RM.lha contains all the example scripts presented in the Shell chapter.
In the ARexx chapter, various scripts for working with the Workbench, MultiView and TextEdit are written and explained. You can easily download these scripts by author Martin Steigerwald to your Amiga. Please find those in the archives ARexx-Workbench_AOS32RM.lha, ARexx-MultiView_AOS32RM.lha and ARexx-TextEdit_AOS32RM.lha.
Martin Steigerwald’s WB-Tools are an ARexx-based collection of extensions and comfort functions for the Workbench of AmigaOS 3.9, which can also be used with AmigaOS 3.2. You can find them on the Aminet and continuously updated on this service page for AmigaOS 3.2 Reference Manual.
In Chapter 1.8, Frank Greshake explains how to install AmigaOS 3.2 on the THEA500 Mini. You can easily adapt the configuration file slot-0.uae presented in this chapter to your settings after downloading it here: slot-0_uae.lha.
Amendments
We will continuously add updates and amendments in this section.
The book mentions the accelerator cards Terriblefire for the Amiga at various points. The name of the developer of Terriblefire is not Steven Leary, but Stephen Leary. We apologise for the error.
1.3 WinUAE: WinUAE can be set up with different languages. Additional to the English built-in language you can download and install language files for French, German and Spanish, amongst others.
7.4 Data exchange: As an addition to chapter 7.4 – Data exchange between Amiga and PC – we would like to point to the excellent Disk Flashback by Rob Smith making exchange more easy than using Total Commander and AmigaDX. Also related is his “Drawbridge”, which allows to use a PC floppy drive with a compatible adapter (for example Greaseweasle) to directly access real Amiga floppies in a compatible emulator (tested with WinUAE). Thanks to Per-Olof Yliniemi for these supplementary notes.
7.5.2 Hardware, Turbo boards: Adding to the accelerator boards (chapter Next Steps, Hardware) the “Dicke Olga” is worth mentioning. This is a new acceletor card for the Amiga 2000, which gives a 68030 @50MHz (overclockable to 60MHz), FPU-socket (40MHz is max. for PLCC, but these are able to run at 50MHz and it can be clocked separately from the CPU, if needed). It also adds 128 MB Fast RAM, MapROM functionality, hard drive options for 2.5″ IDE, 3.5″ IDE, M.2 SATA SSD, SATA and CF-card (on-board, accessible from the back plate), plus two clockports, one of which can be used for the Delfina soundcard.
7.5.2 Hardware, Turbo boards: The PiStorm 500 also gives the Amiga 0.5 to 1.9 GB extra Fast RAM, depending on which RaspberryPi is used. Since April 2024, any Amiga with the PiStorm solution also gives a fast network connection through WiFi.
7.5.6 Hardware, Ethernet for Zorro 2 and Zorro 3: It’s also worth mentioning that the ZZ9000 graphic board also brings in a gigabit ethernet port along to its main functionality.
Corrections
Scandoublers (page 426): Additionally to 60 Hz the ScanPlus ECS scandoubler is able to output the analog signal with 50 Hz.
